RWWA would like thank all owners for their continuous investment and support of the WA racing industry, and for their patience and cooperation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To celebrate the return of patrons back on-course, we are sharing the ownership experiences of some of our owners, such as harness owners Glen and Brenda Richards, who are two of the over 13,000 people investing in the WA racing industry.

Glen and Brenda became involved in ownership through a friend who invited them into a share in Sergeant Oats.

“We just love the horses! We enjoy going to watch them whether it’s in the bush or in the city, and love the social aspect of the sport.”

“It has been an awesome experience being in ownership as our horses have raced quite often, and we have had a fair bit of luck! Sarge has won 12 races and had 15 placings, and after a slow beginning HengHeng and Middlepage have won 6 races between them and are still only 3-year-olds.”

“What we enjoy most is going to the races when our horses are in and catch up with the trainers, drivers and other owners, whilst having a meal and a drink.”

“The spectacle and thrill of being so close to the action as well as the closeness of everyone involved in the industry allows you to enjoy it so much more.”

“Now that restrictions have eased, we are excited to go down and see our horses again, and catch up with all the people associated with them, and hopefully get a few photos with our champs in the winner’s circle!”

Once again, RWWA would like to thank owners for their understanding during this challenging period, and for their support as we progressively get back to enjoying racing as we know it in WA.
